The department store group has been implementing this service progressively in the rest of Spain since December 2015 when it launched an initial phase in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Seville and Bilbao. At present, the department stores distribute purchases on the same day from 94 centers and reach more than 830 postal districts located in a total of 54 cities, according to sources from El Corte Inglés.
The urgent delivery service – which entails a customer surcharge of 7.90 euros – is applied to a total of 170,000 items of all sections for orders of up to five products. Delivery times range from noon to 10 pm from Monday to Saturday, although in Madrid it is also available on Sundays. Likewise, the client will be able to track his order in real time.
El Corte Inglés has thus reinforced its commitment to electronic commerce to deal with digital natives such as Amazon. The US multinational also offers a same-day delivery service at a cost of 7.99 euros per package. The surcharge for Premium customers is 5.99 euros and free for orders for an amount greater than 29 euros.
