The Sanitary Services Management of the Palm, attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, reports that in the screening of COVID-19 held between this Thursday and Friday in the Puerto de Tazacorte Eight positive cases have been detected among the 850 samples taken from neighbors who came for the tests.

Of these eight positive cases, two of them correspond to people who have already overcome the disease. In the case of the other six people who have tested positive, the corresponding isolation and close contact tracing protocols have already been activated. These eight new positives will be incorporated into the Grafcan statistics as they are validated.

This screening, conceived as a strategy for early diagnosis and detection of possible asymptomatic positives, could be started due to the increase in cases that have been detected in recent days in this area of ​​the municipality of Palma.

According to the epidemiological report of the General Directorate of Public Health As of yesterday, Friday, the 12th, the Accumulated Incidence in the municipality of Tazacorte in the last 14 days is 349.73 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, while at 7 days the figure stands at 196.72 cases per 100,000 inhabitants . In the municipality there are currently 16 active cases of COVID-19.

The Health Area Directorate of La Palma is studying to carry out in the coming days in collaboration with the State Security Forces and Bodies and with the Canarian Police a campaign to control compliance with the preventive measures of COVID-19 in the municipality to continue raising awareness among citizens of the importance of protecting themselves against contagions.
