The Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands has issued a series of instructions for the organization of the operation of public and concerted educational centers in the Canary Islands from March 16 to 22, which may be extended. The teaching activity in the Archipelago was closed last Friday with the aim of preventing children from being able to act as transmitters of the coronavirus.
In the Order that includes these indications, it is established that the management teams of the centers will be organized to guarantee the continuity of their administrative management. In addition, they must provide the cleaning, maintenance and works in progress services and that, due to the extension of the terms of all the administrative procedures in progress, the personnel responsible for them may take turns to guarantee said activity. Any other personnel of the educational administration that is necessary for the operation of the center will comply with the instructions made for the teachers.
Also, to avoid crowds, priority will be given to telephone assistance (by appointment) and telematic assistance (web). The educational centers will establish communication systems with the students for the continuity of learning (Moodle Platform, EVAGD, Google Classroom, Blogs, etc.). The Ministry indicates that students will thus be able to keep the development of the teaching process as standardized as possible. In addition, measures will be adopted to meet both the Public Health criteria decreed by the health authorities, and the care of boys and girls.
Teachers will organize their work so that the actions that can be carried out without going to the center are planned. During the period of suspension of classes, teachers will carry out online training activities, updating professional competence, as well as those related to the use of virtual learning environments.
In this sense, the Ministry indicates that it will strengthen the offer of supervised distance education, will update the materials and resources – in this sense, a repository of 6000 digital educational resources will be provided to teaching staff available through the link http://www3.gobiernodecanarias.org/medusa/ecoescuela/recursosdigitales which will be progressively expanded- and will enable a repository of activities in the coming days.
In addition, a link and tutorial will be incorporated with instructions to access the virtual learning environments through the virtual training platform EVAGD and advice will be provided to resolve any questions or incidents related to these spaces through email. [email protected] Likewise, permanent information will be offered from the Innovation area.
Regarding FP and Adult Education, non-interruption of administrative management and the preparation of ongoing projects are guaranteed with open calls from the different departments of the Ministry.
