The Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra (GCWO) celebrates its VII season with two concerts at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium. The first of them, which will take place this Sunday, October 3 at 12:00 in the Symphonic Hall, is dedicated to the figure of the Czech composer Antonin Leopold Dvorak and is entitled Dvorak: envisioning a new world. A symphonic program that connects with the current problem of rebuilding a new world through a new sound perception. In this sense, for those responsible for the GCWO, the choice of Dvorak was clear as an exponent of an optimistic reflection that seeks human happiness and social development through a new way of proceeding. And for this, nothing better than Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op.95, also known as Symphony of the new world, composed in 1893. The concert will conclude with the performance of American Suite, op. 98b.

The second concert of this seventh season, dedicated to Mahler, will take place on Monday, December 6 at 12:00. Under the title Mahler: consciousness of man and nature, the GCWO will interpret Symphony No. 1 in D Major Titan, composed by the composer between 1884 and 1888. Mahler invites us with his music to reflect on respect for nature as the implacable force of life.

Both concerts, a co-production of the Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra Cultural Association and the Auditorium and Theater Foundation, mobilize a total of 130 musicians and also have the collaboration of the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Philharmonic Society from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
