Singer Dua Lipa to compete for three awards at the 2021 British industry music awards gala Brit Awards, to be held at the O2 in London on May 11. The British composer of Albanian-Kosovar origin will participate in the categories of best female artist, best British single, with ‘Physical’, and best album, the highest award, thanks to ‘Future Nostalgia’.
Dua Lipa already has three Brit awards, as she won Best British Female Artist in 2018, Best Emerging Artist the same year, and Best British Single in 2019 for ‘One Kiss’. It has also garnered seven other nominations since its debut at the awards in 2017.
Together with Dua Lipa, will compete in the category of best album of the year Arlo Parks for ‘Collapsed in Sunbeams’, Celeste for ‘Not Your Nurse’, J Hus for ‘Big Conspiracy’ and Jessie Ware for ‘What’s Your Pleasure?’
Regarding the best british group of the year, the nominees have been The 1975, Biffy Clyro, Little Mix, BICEP and Young T & Bugsey, while the best group international will come out of Fontaines DC, Foo Fighters, HAIM, and Run The Jewels.
In the category of best male artist The international chosen ones are Bruce Springsteen, Tame Impala, The Weeknd, Burna Boy and Childish Gambino, while the award for best international artist feminine It will be disputed by Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift.
The ceremony, which has been delayed since February due to the current circumstances of the pandemic, will be held on May 11 at the O2 in London, on the banks of the Thames and will feature, among others, performances by Dua Lipa and Griff. The gala will be hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall for the fourth year in a row.
