Djokovic retires from doubles in Cincinnati due to neck injury – La Provincia

World’s number one Novak Djokovic was dropped this Sunday from the doubles draw of the Cincinnati Masters 1,000 for a neck injury, one day before his singles debut.

The Serbian, who had been treated for the physios in the neck during training this Sunday, had to retire before his scheduled match with Filip Krajinovic against Americans Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe.

Now, the appointment that this year takes place in New York, as a prelude to the US Open, due to the ravages of the coronavirus pandemic on the tennis calendar, remains pending if his first racket will hit the court for his individual debut on Monday against the Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis.
