The Walt Disney group revealed on Thursday that its Disney + streaming service will be available in Spain and other European countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy from March 31, 2020.
The entertainment giant made this announcement through its Twitter account, where he recalled that the service and its catalog of titles may vary depending on the territory, and that in a short time it will inform of its arrival in more countries.
The American company made this announcement the same day it released its annual corporate results.
Disney closed its fiscal year 2019 with a net profit of 10,441 million dollars, which is 17% less than in the previous fiscal year, due to its efforts this year to integrate 21st Century Fox into its business strategy.
The president and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Robert A. Iger, announced on CNBC that Disney + will be distributed in the United States on Amazon Fire TV and that FX will have a "great presence" on Disney-owned Hulu.
And is that Disney + will be available already in the US as of November 12 with a price of $ 6.99 per month and an annual bonus of $ 69.99.
Iger emphasized the "benefit" that Disney has by being able to create and own its own content "and then capitalize on consumption on new platforms" like Hulu.
He also said he is not too worried about the other companies he will have to compete with, including AppleTV +, NBCUniversal Peacock and HBO Max from WarnerMedia, as well as Netflix and Amazon.
Disney will be strong in that market with a product that will include in some countries its complete catalog of classic films, plus all the productions of the Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic factories and its channels for children.
