Paris, Apr 23 (EFE) .- The “maison” Christian Dior announced this Friday that it will present its next collection, Cruise 2022, on June 17 in the Greek capital, Athens, “cradle of Western civilization and European arts” .
“We are pleased to announce that Dior has chosen Athens, an exceptional destination – cradle of Western civilization and European arts – to present the Cruise 2022 collection imagined by Maria Grazia Chiuri,” the firm’s designer, the brand announced in a statement. .
On the catwalk, the Cruise lines serve as a transition between the summer and winter ready-to-wear presentations.
The choice of destination is a tribute to a series of photographs that Christian Dior took on the Acropolis 70 years ago to reveal the creations of a Haute Couture line, an unprecedented gesture, used to give more luster to crafts and that meant a milestone in the presentation of collections.
“With these new dialogues reinventing the excellence of Dior, this parade will take place on June 17, in the Greek capital, with full respect for the health measures in force,” added the company, which did not clarify whether it will host the public or not.
Since June 2020, Dior has been forced to adapt its shows, like the rest of the Paris brands, and has presented its latest proposals for women and men in an exclusively virtual format.
The parade of his spring-summer 2021 collection could only be held relatively normally, although the capacity was very limited, revealed at the end of last September.
It was attended by only about 200 people compared to the thousand who come to witness the catwalk live under normal conditions.
The next parade of the “maison” in Paris, after Athens, should take place at the beginning of July, in the presentation of Haute Couture collections autumn-winter 2021/2022.
