The Minister of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Knowledge of the Government of the Canary Islands, Hon. Mr. D. Pedro Ortega Rodríguez, and the Ilmo. Mr. Raúl García Brink, Councilor for Economic Development, Energy and R + D + I of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria; The Office of Digital Transformation (OTD) of the Official College of Industrial Engineers of the Eastern Canary Islands (COIICO) will open this Wednesday, April 3, which will be located in its main office in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The Dean of the COIICO, Mr. José Antonio Lucendo Sancho, his Manager, Mr. Gregorio Martínez Royano, and the person in charge of the OTD, Mr. Rubén Pérez Cudero; They will explain how this office can help SMEs, self-employed people and entrepreneurs in the Canary Islands to transform themselves digitally and what the 61 awareness-raising activities that will take place during 2019 will consist of.
During the inauguration, there will be three brief presentations, the first one will be given by the Ilmo. Mr. Gonzalo Legnavieja Izquierdo, Deputy Minister of Industry, Energy and Commerce; followed by the Ilmo. Mr. Raúl García Brink, Councilor for Economic Development, Energy and R + D + I of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria; and D. Óscar Herrera Piñero, Director of Digital Transformation and Innovation in the Hermanos Domínguez Group.
The COIICO has been one of the 27 entities selected by the Ministry of Economy and Business as beneficiary of the Promotion Program for the creation of Digital Transformation Offices, whose bases were published in the State Bulletin no. 311, of December 23, 2017, by Resolution, of October 3, 2018, of the Public Business Entity Red.es.
Of the 27 selected only two entities correspond to the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, being the proposal of the COIICO the best valued with a score of 9.2 out of 10.
The OTDs set up throughout Spain by the Ministry of Economy and Business, through the public entity Red.es, have a global budget of five million euros. The actions to be carried out will be financed by the Multiregional Operational Program of Spain (POPE), European Regional Development Funds (ERDF) for the programming period 2014-2020 and under the slogan "A way of doing Europe" which has among its objectives to improve the use, quality and access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
This initiative is carried out in parallel with the "Digital Advisors" Program, endowed with another five million euros through the same type of European Funds and aims to carry out Digitalization Plans that help SMEs to incorporate ICT in their processes : business management, relationship with third parties, electronic commerce and digitalization of services or solutions.
With this initiative, COIICO aims to contribute to the improvement of the competitiveness of the business sector in the Canary Islands and the promotion of digital entrepreneurship through awareness and advice on the use and adoption of ICT solutions that improve efficiency in the creation and development processes of business.
To achieve this objective, the COIICO OTD will carry out dissemination actions, primarily aimed at SMEs in the professional, scientific and technical sector, which will consist of workshops on current issues in the digital domain and new technological trends in the areas of Digital Marketing, Electronic Commerce , Cloud Computing, Big Data, Internet of Things, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Smart Cities, Cybersecurity, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, Entrepreneurship Methodologies, 3D Printing and Industry 4.0 among others.
And for those SMEs, self-employed and entrepreneurs interested in the adoption of ICT solutions for their business, the CODOC OTD will have a support service and resolution of queries on Internet Presence, Social Networks and Online Marketing, E-Commerce, Relationship with third parties (customers, suppliers, partners, etc.), Digitalization of services and solutions, Adaptation of systems to the new General Data Protection Regulation and digital Entrepreneurship, which will be provided in a physical manner, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. workdays, and telematically through the available means that can be found on the web page.
