Die Blanco, the charismatic albino tiger from Oasys MiniHollywood

Blanco, the charismatic albino tiger from Oasys MiniHollywood Park, died on December 22nd in the Almeria reserve. Blanco arrived on August 5, 2002 from the Jerez Zoo. He was the only survivor of a litter of three albino pups and his mother rejected him. At that time he began a new stage in Almeria, where he has spent the last 16 years of his life.
The first months of Blanco were normal, but the veterinarians detected that he was beginning to have problems. Blanco began to show signs of bone weakness, which caused the team to overturn with him and to increase ties with the animal, much in need of care and affection. After a few difficult months, Blanco recovered a certain normality. At the age of five, a fang was broken and an implant of a titanium and gold dental piece was implanted, the first implant of this type to be made in the world to a tiger. This intervention was carried out by the University of Dentistry of Murcia, together with a group of veterinarians from Almeria.
During the following 10 years, Blanco was enjoying the best enclosures of the park and all the affections of the visitors and workers of Oasys MiniHollywood, until at age 15 he was transferred to quieter facilities and away from the public, so that could enjoy his well-deserved retirement, until finally on December 22 he left us.
