More than 100,000 kilos of cucumber have been thrown by the farmers of the Granada coast in two days as a protest for the fall in prices suffered by this product in recent times.
This action of protest will be maintained for a week and while it is selling below the cost of production, according to sources from the sector.
The City of Motril has enabled a space in the Fairground for farmers to deposit the cucumber for disposal, as reported to Efe Deputy Mayor for Environment, Antonio Escámez.
Escámez has said that farmers can take this product to the area enabled for it during this week from 08.00 hours until 19.00 hours
From the municipality of Motril they say that farmers are suffering from a very hard situation caused by the market prices of the product, and that it is very low, which could cause the ruin of many farmers.
They also remember that there are many people on the coast who live, to a greater or lesser extent, agriculture.
