The Debat Constituent platform has closed this Saturday its cycle of debates on the constitutional bases of the political future of Catalonia and now begins a participatory process that wants to be “a message to the State that, despite the repression, they are not even the political class nor the offices, but it is the people empowered in the street who say: ‘We work for the republic, still “.
This has been said by the spokesperson for the Coordinator of Debat Constituent, Lluís Llach, who has also asked the participants in the initiative of the platform to send to Europe the message that “beyond what the Spanish State does, the country wants to continue working “for a modern and purposeful republic, he said.
With the seventh and final of these Training Days, which was held this Saturday in Barcelona, ”a process that began quite recently” is completed, with the constitution of the advisory council of the Fírum Cívic i Social per al Debat Constituent – seven of Its members are part of the current coordinator, and the other 22 come from the territorial divisions of the platform.
According to Llach, Debat Constituent has always opted to take his project “out of the offices and take it to the street”, so that citizens decide the constitutional bases of the political future of Catalonia.
Although their intention was not to write a Constitution, they did want to raise the process in a different way to the Transition: “It should not resemble at all what happened in 1978”.
He has criticized that the Spanish Constitution was drafted “by a few people with the army waiting for any difficult initiative to pass,” against what has claimed the participatory nature of the Debat Constituent initiative.
Llach has argued that the debates of Debat Constituent have been raised to an “empowered citizenship that for some years is deconstructing the past, and constituting the future.”
In these debates they have “rediscovered in the social fabric of the country” with representatives of associations, cultural and sports entities, contacts that have culminated in the formation of 42 ‘Regional Entities’ and ten of the district linked to Debat Constituent.
A “BINDING” PROPOSAL
“The more participation there is, the more binding will be” the result of this new phase, he said, adding that Debat Constituent plans to deliver the result of this process to the Parliament of Catalonia this 2020.
Llach has ensured that the rejection thresholds that the project may raise will not exceed the “more or less dignified parameters”, compared to those registered in other States during constituent processes.
“If we get serious, we can break these parameters. We can raise them much more,” and said that, given the success of the debate day, the coordinator of Debat Constituent, has extended until February 15 the period in which citizens They can make proposals to the editors of the questions that will back the next phase.
Debat Constituent sources have informed Europa Press that in the remaining six Training Days an average of 150 people have participated per session, in which sovereignty, fundamental rights, nationality and language have been discussed in reflection groups.
In this day on Saturday, in Barcelona, the linguist Teresa Cabrè, the lawyer Agustí Carles and the sociologist and president of the Catalan Commission for Refugee Assistance, Miguel Pajares, participated and about 200 people participated.
