The Canarias Jazz & Mas International Festival returns to San Bartolomé de Tirajana to celebrate its 30th anniversary and with the help of four artists of national and international prestige.
The first concert, which will take place tomorrow, Friday at 8:00 p.m. on the esplanade of the Maspalomas Lighthouse, will be attended by the Chico Pinheiro Quartet and The Black Barbies. The second, which will be on Saturday 10th, will begin at the ExpoMeloneras Conference Center at 8:00 pm with Cyrille Aimée, and will continue at the Esplanade of the Maspalomas Lighthouse, at 9:30 pm with Patax.
The director of the festival, Miguel Ramírez, had been pursuing this return for years, “We are excited to perform these concerts with high-level artists in an ideal environment such as the Maspalomas Lighthouse,” he said. The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Concepción Narváez, highlighted the importance of returning to normality and promoting culture, “we are ensuring that people not only come to enjoy the fantastic days of sun and beach that our natural heritage offers us but that, in addition, they enjoy a great cultural offer with events such as the International Trumpet Festival, the Maspalomas Summer University or the Jazz Festival itself ».
For vocalist Cyrille Aimée, improvisation is not only a vocal technique, but a way of life that allows her to share her creative spark with the world. Chico Pinheiro is a prominent figure inside and outside the Brazilian scene, in which he has distinguished himself as a guitarist, composer and arranger. City of Dreams (2020), their latest work, was nominated for the 2021 Grammy Awards. Patax is currently the most prominent Spanish fusion band, and, based in Barcelona, The Black Barbies is one of the most original proposals internationally .
