The spokesman for the Gomera Socialist Group Parliamentary Group (ASG),
Casimir Curbelohighlighted, this Tuesday, that the Canary Islands budget project for 2023,
“protect those who need it most”. As he explained, the document approved by the Governing Council and now entering the parliamentary process, "is a reflection of the commitment of the parties that make up the pact to cover progressive policies."

He valued the increase in items related to social spending that reach
7,478 million euros, with an increase of 9.4%, "and that must be coordinated with the social policies that are launched in these areas by the State." "These are resources that go to Health, Education and Social Rights, strategic areas to strengthen the social shield and cushion the socioeconomic impact that we have been dragging for the last three years," he explained.

Curbelo stressed that this social commitment is also reflected in the planned selective fiscal measures and that they will reach the low and medium incomes of the islands, with
deductions that will increase between 20% and 40%. "These are actions aimed at minimizing the consequences of rising prices and that, in addition, are reflected in the expansion of the first four regional income tax brackets," he explained.

The regional deputy insisted that investments play a relevant role in revitalizing the productive fabric and creating jobs, rising to
1,764 million euros, 27.1% more. "This guarantees the boost of the economy and the strategic sectors that need incentives from the public," he said.

Finally, he warned that the uncertainty of the international context affects the increase in public spending, with a deviation that could reach
€500 million. "The war in Ukraine and its consequences on the cost of energy, or the forecast recession in some European countries, will be decisive for the consolidation of the objectives set in these budgets", he pointed out, at the time he insisted that since public "we will not cease in our efforts and ability to meet the needs of the greatest number of people possible".
