Cuban diplomats loudly boycott an act of the United States at the UN
Cuban diplomats boycotted today with shouts and blows on the tables an event organized by the United States at the UN headquarters to denounce the situation of political prisoners on the island.
The Cuban delegation, which had asked the United Nations to cancel the event on the grounds that it violated the rules of the organization, finally appeared in the room and prevented the appointment from proceeding normally.
Participants at the event, including the US diplomat Kelley Currie and the secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, delivered their speeches, but these could barely be heard amid cries of "Cuba yes, no blockade" and hits on the tables.
