Havana, Feb 23 (EFE) .- The National Bank of Cuba will issue a series of commemorative coins for numismatic purposes dedicated to the legendary island dancer Alicia Alonso (1920-2019), as a tribute to her centenary, media reported this Tuesday state.
Each piece will have the image of the renowned dancer and choreographer printed on the obverse, who was for many years and until her death the general director of the classical dance company Ballet Nacional de Cuba (BNC).
The numismatic series, which will have the shield of the Caribbean island stamped on the reverse of the coins, will have 200 copies in gold, 2,000 in silver and 5,000 in cuni (copper and nickel alloy).
The minting of the coins, one of the various actions for the artist’s name day, will be in charge of the comprehensive marketing company of Special Technologies Developed through the Casa de la Moneda de Cuba, according to the details disclosed by the National Ballet of Cuba. .
Alicia Alonso, considered a symbol of Cuban culture and one of the great figures of universal dance, left after her death on October 17, 2019 the legacy of a virtuous artistic career, marked by her acting talent combined with her choreographic contributions and pedagogical.
