The COVID-19 pandemic has exceeded in Honduras the number of cases of deaths and infections in a single day, with which there are already 471 deaths and 15,994 patients, the National Risk Management System (Sinager) reported on Friday.
According to the Sinager, of 1,291 confirmed PCR laboratory tests, 628 were positive, most of them in Tegucigalpa, the country’s capital, while the new deaths totaled 45, for a global number of 471 since March, when the pandemic began.
The agency also recorded that, of the total number of patients nationwide, 1,115 remain hospitalized, of which 352 are serious, 709 in stable condition and 54 in intensive care units.
To the statistics were added 78 patients who recovered their health, with which they already add 1,678, indicated the state Sinager.
Of the 45 new deaths, 40 correspond to the department of Francisco Morazán, in the center of the country, where Tegucigalpa is located, three to Choluteca, south, and two to Cortés, northern region, which continues to be the main epicenter of the pandemic.
The COVID-19 pandemic in the country continues to rise, even in the most distant and Caribbean department of Gracias a Dios, bordering Nicaragua, the least populated and which can only be reached by air, river or sea, which today He registered six cases, after having been the last to enter the disease, with one.
In the case of Choluteca, the most populous department in the south of the country, adjacent to Nicaragua, is another one that in the last week has had a high incidence of cases, and to a lesser extent its neighboring Valley, which borders El Salvador. .
Today, Francisco Morazán, was the one that registered the most infections, 328, followed by Cortés, with 228, according to the Sinager report, who again insisted with his call on the population to continue complying with all sanitary measures to avoid getting sick from COVID-19.
Permanent hand washing with soap and water, the use of alcohol-based gel, do not greet with kisses and hands; not sharing drinks or food, and wearing a mask at all times, which can be manufactured at home in a simple and effective way, are the main recommendations that Sinager makes daily.
Although according to health authorities, public hospitals have not yet collapsed when it comes to beds to care for both patients, there are fewer and fewer places, even in private ones, among which some have announced that they no longer have space for patients , nor admit suspects of having contracted the disease.
