Countdown to the MIR exam – La Provincia

A total of 35,114 applicants will choose this Saturday, February 2, for one of the 8,402 places called for him Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare for the total of qualifications for access to specialized health training; almost 5 percent more than last year, and of which 6,797 correspond to Medicine (MIR).
The selective tests will be carried out simultaneously, starting from the 15.00 hours in the Canary Islands, (4pm on the Peninsula), in 21 locations distributed in all the autonomous communities. For this purpose, 570 examination tables located in 43 centers.
The Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare and the autonomous communities, in the Plenary Session of the Human Resources Commission of the National system of health, approved last September an increase of 284 MIR places for this call, which represents an increase of 4.4 percent over the period 2017-2018. For the exam this Saturday, 15,477 applicants are admitted, of which 63% are women and 37% are men.
Regarding the distribution of the rest of the 8,402 places of health training specialized in residency by degrees, and the variation with respect to the previous call is pharmacy with 267 (increase of 22 seats, 9% more than in the previous call) ; psychology with 141 (increase of 6 places, 4,4% more); radiophysics 33 (increase of 6 seats, 3% more); chemistry, biology and radiophysics with 71 (increase of 7 places, 9.2% more); and 1,092 for nursing (41 more places, 3.9% with respect to the previous call).
For the examination, 12,937 applicants are admitted to nursing, of whom 89% are women and 11% are men; in Pharmacy (FIR), 1,334 applicants are admitted, of which 75% are women and 25% are men; in Psychology (PIR), 4,072 applicants are admitted, of whom 82% are women and 18% men; in Biology (BIR) there are admitted 789 aspirants, of whom 71% are women and 29% men; in Chemistry (QIR) 298 applicants are admitted, of which 66% are women and 34% are men; and in Radiophysics (RFIR), 207 applicants are admitted, of whom 44% are women and 56% are men.
The reservation of 7% of the places for People with disabilities equal or superior to the 33 percent that was established for the first time in the 2011-2012 Call, complying with the regulations of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. 588 places are called, which represents an increase of 4.4% over the previous year and the number of applicants is 459.
In those degrees with quota of places for non-community graduates the percentage of the previous year is maintained: Medicine 4%, Pharmacy 3% and Nursing 2%.
57 Delegates, 492 Auditors and 1,600 Members, appointed by the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare participate in the execution and development of the test. In addition, 73 people will be part of the rating Commissions, meeting in permanent session the day of the exercise.
The number of questions of the exam for all degrees is 225 plus 10 reservation and the The duration of the test will be 5 hours. In the examination of doctors, 15% of the questions are linked to an image; and the question format is maintained with 4 response options and the same multibrand system of the last exam.
