Gran Canaria will host another year of best national surf of the moment with the dispute of Open LPA Surf City 2019, last scoring test for the national surf circuit The Iberdrola FESurfing League of this year where male and female titles are matched between Thursday 5 and Sunday 8, with two Canarian riders fighting for the twisted: Luis Diaz in men and Marcela Machado in females.
The event was presented Tuesday at the Gran Canaria Arena, with the presence of the Sports Councilor of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Francisco Castellano, the manager of the Tourist Board of Gran Canaria, Pablo Llinares, the sales manager of the Orvecame Group, Benigno Alemán, and the tournament director, Sergio San Román, among others.
The Iberdrola League of the Spanish Surfing Federation arrives in Gran Canaria with a new format, implemented since 2018 with the aim of promoting surfing in Spain: a calendar of eight tests for men and seven for women held in the communities of Asturias, Andalusia, Cantabria, Galicia and the Canary Islands.
This set of high-level tests that have traveled the national geography will have its final brooch on the coast of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the celebration of the Open LPA Surf City 2019. The national event, which aims to bring professional surfing to future promises, offers a scholarship of 18,000 euros that will be shared equally among the winners of the circuit. This is joined by 4,000 euros to be awarded by the Grancanaria test.
In men, the Basque Andy Criere and the grancanario Luis Díaz are the surfers who arrive at Gran Canaria to dispute the title of the national circuit 2019. In the Women's section, the Asturian Lucia Martiño, who arrives as leader of the ranking, will play the twisted against the Canarian Marcela Machado.
Undoubtedly, two exciting duels for the title of absolute champions of La Liga Iberdrola FESurfing 2019 in Gran Canaria waters. Along with the riders who travel the national circuit will also participate a wide representation of the best surfers of the Islands.
But the Open LPA Surf City 2019 wants to go much further, so has organized a varied poster of parallel activities, from a paddle championship, through yoga classes and even social action.
Within the framework of the competition The Bodysurf Open Festival, Championship of Spain of the specialty, will also be held, that will crown the national champion of this discipline. Currently, Ricardo Estupiñán is the bodysurfer who holds this title, having obtained it in the 2018 edition of the Gran Canaria event.
