Intersindical Canaria has denounced this Wednesday that the Ministry of Health of the Canary Government you are not taking the necessary steps to start up a team available in the Insular Maternal and Child University Hospital Complex (CHUIMI) that allows do up to 1,400 daily tests of Covid-19.

In this sense, from Intersindical Canaria remember that some days ago they denounced a similar situation at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands (HUC), where there is also a Cobas 6800 system that allows performing more than a thousand daily diagnostic tests for Coronavirus.

After our complaint, the reagents were available at the HUC in 72 hours. However, now we find ourselves in the same situation, since the Ministry of Health continues without putting into operation all the equipment at its disposal to combat the current health crisis, “says Ruymán Pérez.

In the case of the Gran Canaria Hospital, from the union they point out that, today, Only 250 daily tests are carried out in this center“At the beginning of the crisis, professionals from the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) were not tested and when the first tests began to be carried out, there were workers who had to wait five days or more for samples to be taken,” he points out. Ruymán Pérez, who highlights that the start-up of these teams at the beginning of the current crisis would have reduced uncertainty and the probability of contagion among workers.

In this regard, the union organization explains that with these teams, more effective measures could be established to reduce infections, since they allow a greater number of tests to be carried out in a short period of time.
