The mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Augusto Hidalgo, has had a meeting with the captain of the Las Palmas Sports Union, Aythami Artiles, in which the athlete, on behalf of the entire staff, has made available to the Consistory health material to help in the health crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic. The meeting was also attended by the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Josué Íñiguez, volunteers from Civil protection, the president of Peña 16 Aythami Artiles, Nalini Daryanani and Carmelo Molina of Grupo Power.
The Mayor thanked “the help provided by the players and the technical staff of the team in our city to face this situation and contribute to the fact that the municipal professionals, who are making an enormous effort on a daily basis to fight this crisis, can continue to attend in safe conditions for the population that is having the worst. “
Specifically, the contribution is made up of 500 masks, 1,000 gloves, 25 liters of specific cleaning products against Covid-19, 6 liters of hydroalcohol gel with aloe vera and two boxes of disposable stretcher rolls. In addition, they delivered about a hundred cookie jars.
This material will go to the volunteers of Civil protection They are in permanent contact with the population through the different social services activated by the City Council since the state of alarm was decreed to protect and attend to the most vulnerable neighbors.
The volunteer group is conducting important work to support the population with the delivery of daily menus at home to people who are at risk and who are in a vulnerable situation, in the care of the homeless or in collaboration with the central government for the mask distribution in the busiest parts of the city.
