The Ministry of Health, through the General Directorate of Public health, reports the precautionary measures to take into account for students who return to the Canary Islands these days from areas where the cessation of academic activity at all educational levels to stop the spread of infection by the new coronavirus COVID-19.
The autonomous communities of Madrid and the Basque Country have adopted Containment measures reinforced by having detected in their respective territories areas of high transmission of the pathogen and some countries with high community circulation of the virus with a significant increase in cases of infection.
Given the foreseeable return to the islands of a considerable number of students who carry out their studies in those areas of the peninsular territory and in other countries, it is necessary to intensify preventive measures aimed at preventing the spread of the pathogen in our community.
In this way, the recent recommendations of the European Union They advise focusing efforts on aggressively containing the virus, especially where there are still few cases, as is the case in our community, for which purpose the following recommendations are issued:
First.- It is recommended that during 14 days after arrival in the islands avoid departures and close contact with other people, especially immunosuppressed and elderly. They are asked to observe their own state of health in the event of the possible appearance of any of the following symptoms such as fever, cough or feeling of shortness of breath.
Second.- If the person developed respiratory symptoms (cough, fever or feeling of shortness of breath) you must contact the 112, reporting the history of your trip and the symptoms that it presents so that you can make an assessment.
Third.- After the period of 14 days after arrival without symptoms have appeared, you can make a normal life. Always observing the hygienic-sanitary recommendations that have been established in general.
Room.- It is recommended that students, who as of today have not returned to the autonomous community of the Canary Islands, avoid moving and that they pstay at your place of residence following the instructions of the health authorities.
