"We are not heroes and we do not want to be fallen heroes on the battlefield," says the president of the College of Physicians of Las Palmas, Pedro Cabrera, in a video communication that it has released this Monday in order to claim the Ministry of Health and the Canary Government that the adequate means of protection for the workers of the health in the Canary Islands in front of coronavirus.

Cabrera claims in the video that doctors and health personnel are currently "a strategic resource for society". It also draws attention to the fact that health professionals are currently high-risk people, as demonstrated by the high numbers of contagion that they suffer in the whole of Spain and even more so in the Canary Islands, with 20% of infected professionals.

The president of the College of Physicians of Las Palmas adds that, in addition, they are the main agents of spread and contagion of the virus when caring for patients without due protection. Therefore, it states that they should not pass "not a day more unprotected", "Not one more day without masks, not one more day without gloves, not one more day without robes ...", he continues listing in his message.
