Coronavirus in the Canary Islands: La Gomera performs temperature controls on all passengers arriving on the Island – La Provincia

The La Gomera Council informs that since this Thursday, passengers arriving at La Gomera by ship and plane they will have to undergo temperature control within the preventive protocols that are developed on the island to stop the expansion of the COVID-19.

The Cabildo has launched this service that It is provided at the port of San Sebastián de La Gomera and the island airport.

The first citizens subjected to this measure passed the control in the arrival infrastructures, a space in which the deployed teams take the temperature under the established sanitary guidelines.

Thus, it seeks to detect those passengers who may reach the island territory with any symptoms, since all are identified according to the place of origin, the corporation notes in a note.

The president of the Cabildo, Casimiro Curbelo, specified that the activation of this inspection is part of the preventive program that the institution follows in cooperation with the municipalities, which reinforces security in transit spaces.

In this sense, he insisted that “the priority is to isolate La Gomera of any risk and for this we will have to continue on this path “. “We need them as soon as possible. We are already making the necessary arrangements for them to arrive, but while we must act responsibly, increasing security and maintaining the disinfection work carried out since Tuesday on all vehicles arriving at the port,” he said.

These tasks have the collaboration of Civil Guard, Port Authority from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, AENA and Cruz Roja.

Material for health centers

The Cabildo also reports that it distributes 11,500 gloves and more than 1,500 masks among the six municipalities and the social health centers.

In addition, this material includes cleaning and fumigation sprays, hydroalcoholic gels, alcohol wipes and bleach.

The transfer operations have started this Thursday with several delivery teams. Curbelo announced that it has already requested authorization from Canary Government so that the Council can acquire detection kits for the COVID-19. “I hope that the response of the regional Executive is positive and we have this material very soon,” he says.
