Coronavirus in the Canary Islands: Hospital Doctor Negrn participates in research on Covid-19 – La Provincia

The Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria, a center attached to the Ministry of Health of the Canary Government, participates in several national research projects on the COVID-19. In this way, professionals from the hospital center contribute their knowledge in different studies that are being carried out with the objective of dealing with this pathology that has generated a health alert situation worldwide.

‘Clinical and epidemiological characteristics of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in Spain’, ‘Description of Covid-19 skin manifestations’ and’ Use of ozone for the reuse of personal protective equipment (PPE). O3CoVid19PPE study ‘are the titles of some of the research projects in which specialists from the hospital center participate.

With the first of the studies called ‘Clinical and epidemiological characteristics of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in Spain ‘, Multicenter and national in nature, the aim is to obtain more information on the profile of patients admitted to Spanish hospitals. Accessing more information about COVID-19 through skin manifestations is the main purpose of the investigation called ‘Description of Covid-19 skin manifestations’, which also includes the participation of professionals from the Dr. Negrín Hospital. In this way, it is intended to detect cases early and avoid infections.

Professionals from various hospital centers throughout the country also participate in this study. On the other hand, the hospital center is part of a study that analyzes the use of ozone as a disinfectant in a way that could eliminate the virus, which would allow the reuse of protective equipment with guarantees.
