Coronavirus in the Canary Islands | Education recommends centers that postpone Erasmus to Italy - La Provincia


The Ministry of Education of the Canary Islands Government has recommended to the Canarian educational centers that they have planned European mobility activities with Italian centers in the framework of Erasmus + or any other initiative whose origin or destination is Italy, to postpone them.

The Ministry indicates that this recommendation is made following the recommendations of the National Institute of Educational Documentation, Innovation and Research (INDIRE) of Italy for said program, following coronavirus cases which have been detected in different regions of the country.

The note also informs the faculty and students of the Archipelago that has participated in any such action in Italy and has recently returned or will do so in the next few days to contact the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands Government, department with competences in this area, through the toll-free number 900 112 061.

From this line, a Nursing team, under the coordination of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), informs of the protocol to follow and attends the requests of information of the citizenship on prevention measures, possibilities of contagion and false information.

The note refers to the fact that the Ministry of Universities and the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE) have informed in a statement of the measures taken by the Italian authorities among which are the isolation of the municipalities in which they have been detected cases.

This isolation in the municipalities, Codogno, Casapusterlengo, Castiglione d´Adda, Maleo, Fombio, Bertonico, Castelgerundo, Somaglia, San Fiorano, Terranova dei Passerini and Vo Euganeo, implies, among other measures, the prohibition of access, exit and suspension of educational services.

Likewise, as indicated in this text, the suspension of educational visits and school trips of Italian students through Italy and abroad has been established, and, until February 29, the activities of universities and centers of higher artistic training in the regions from Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia-Romagna. In addition, teaching activities in the municipality of Milan are canceled during this week.

Education recalls that for university students who remain in the country, the SEPIE recommends following the instructions provided by local authorities through the telephone information numbers 1500 (general for Italy), 800 89 45 45 (for Lombardy) and 800 46 23 40 (Veneto).
