The second section of the Provincial Court of A Coruña, in accordance with the verdict of the Jury Court, sentenced a neighbor of the Herculine City to 20 years in prison for the murder of his mother-in-law, 73 years old, in August 2017.
In addition to the sentence of imprisonment, in which the Court has taken into account mitigating confession, the ruling establishes the prohibition to reside and approach the municipality of A Coruña for 30 years, as reported by the Superior Court of Xustiza de Galicia (TSXG).
On the other hand, the sentenced must compensate his ex-partner with 60,000 euros and the other daughter of the victim, with the amount of 30,000 euros.
In the judgment, explains that the defendant is "a toxic substance addict since ancient times" and that he is diagnosed with an anxiety-depressive syndrome and a mixed personality disorder.
However, he points out, as the Jury Court argued, that this "did not alter his intellective and willful capacities at all" when he committed the facts.
The suspect, according to the ruling, went to the house of his mother-in-law, whom he blamed for his emotional breakup, "enraged" after seeing on a social network a photograph of his ex-partner with another man on the beach. On the day of the events, the victim opened the door of the apartment "confident and without thinking that there was danger."
Then, the condemned man took advantage of his physical complexion and was "unprepared" in the corridor, near the door, to beat her with his fists and kick him all over his body, causing numerous injuries until he suffocated her.
