It will be decided if it is time to abolish the obligation to use masks against the coronavirus, not only outdoors

Congress will debate and vote this week if it is time to abolish the obligation to wear masks against the coronavirus, not only outdoors but also indoors.

On the one hand, the Plenary Session of the Chamber will discuss a proposal presented by Citizens, who will also take advantage of the control session on Wednesday to ask the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for explanations for not having decided yet. But Vox will also defend another similar text on Tuesday in the Health Commission.

The party led by Inés Arrimadas has been defending for months the need to put an end, as a general rule,
the mandatory use of masks indoors and will continue to battle this issue in plenary this week.

They ask Sánchez for explanations

Thus, the deputy spokesman for the orange formation in Congress, Guillermo Díaz, will ask the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, “why he does not already eliminate the mandatory use of masks indoors.”

It will be Díaz who asks Sánchez the question because the parliamentary spokesman, Edmundo Bal,
He will debate hours before with the president during the appearance he has requested to discuss the results of the last European Council meeting on the crisis in Ukraine and the change in the Executive's position on Western Sahara.

But, in addition, Citizens will submit a motion with this claim to debate and vote in plenary, which is a consequence of the question that the 'oranges' directed last Wednesday to the Minister of Health.

In that discussion,
Carolina Darias assured that the removal of indoor masks will come sooner than laterthe same answer that Sánchez has been giving for weeks but that has not yet materialized.

It is unacceptable"

Specifically, in their motion, collected by Europa Press, the 'oranges' urge the Government to eliminate the mandatory use of masks indoors, "in line with scientific evidence, with the epidemiological situation and with the comparative perspective."

And it is that, in his opinion,
“It is unacceptable that this banality is played with” with the health of citizens, especially "when there is no scientific evidence to support the current measures", which have already been eliminated in countries such as Belgium, Denmark, Franco, the United Kingdom, Norway or the United States.

In addition, Cs calls on the Government in its text to establish, in an agreed manner with the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System, a clear calendar for the de-escalation of all the Covid containment measures still in force with the aim of offering
«certainty» to families and companies.

The end of the masks too
will be discussed in the Health Commission of Congress, which meets next Tuesday. In this case, it is a Vox initiative that was announced by its spokesperson, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros.

As he stressed, it is a simple proposal that is not mixed with other issues, as the Government did in the December decree law that re-fished the mask outdoors.
