Colombia added 171 new cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus this Sunday, completing 3,792 infected, 179 of whom (4.72%) have died, the Ministry of Health reported in its daily bulletin.
According to the report, more than half of the new cases were confirmed in Bogotá, where 120 infections brought the total of the country’s capital to 1,597.
The rest are in the departments of Antioquia (18), Valle del Cauca (10), Risaralda and Meta (6), while two new registrations were made in Tolima, Atlántico, Cundinamarca and Córdoba, and one in Casanare, Caquetá and Bolívar. .
This Sunday 3,744 tests were analyzed, 315 more than on Saturday, added the information, according to which the people recovered since last March 6, when the first case was detected, are 711, equivalent to 18.75%.
After Bogotá, the main centers of COVID-19 in the country are in Valle del Cauca (634), Antioquia (352), Bolívar (184), Cundinamarca (154), Risaralda (130), Atlántico (108), Magdalena (88), Huila (78), Norte de Santander (59), Meta and Quindío (53).
On the day there were thirteen deceased, aged between 54 and 92 years, which brought to 179 the total number of deaths due to the pandemic.
Four of the deaths occurred in Bogotá and one more in Soacha, a town located in the south of the city; three more were registered in Cali, capital of Valle del Cauca; two others occurred in Antioquia (Medellín and Bello), two in Huila (Timaná and Isnos), and one in Cartagena de Indias, capital of Bolívar.
Of the cases that are still active, 295 people (7.78%) are hospitalized, while 100 patients (2.64%) are in intensive care units (ICU) and the remaining 2,507 (66.11%) are treated at home.
