Temperatures will be high in almost the entire Spanish geography, warns the Directorate of Civil Protection and Emergencies of the Ministry of the Interior, according to the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
According to the Aemet, the most affected areas will be those of the interior and the south of the peninsula, and on Wednesday the heat will also affect the east and the Balearic Islands.
The values will exceed 40 degrees on Monday and Tuesday in the provinces of Jaén, Córdoba and Seville, while Murcia and Valencia will be “especially affected” on the first day of July.
For this reason, Civil Protection recommends limiting sun exposure, staying in ventilated places, eating light and regular meals, rich in water and mineral salts, such as fruits and vegetables, and frequently drinking water and liquids.
He also recommends wearing light-colored clothing that covers most of the body, avoiding prolonged physical exercise in the middle of the day, and taking an interest in older people or those who live alone.
In addition, Civil Protection warns of the risk of forest fires due to high temperatures, so it requests that attention be paid to the regulations on their prevention, and take into account the authorized periods for burning stubble in each autonomous community.
In the case of displaying a fire at its beginning, it indicates that the 112 service must be notified immediately.
Remember that it is forbidden to light fires or bonfires in the forest and nearby land and to camp only in authorized areas, which are those that have protection measures against a possible fire and evacuation is easier, and that you should avoid throwing lit cigarettes and glass bottles that make the magnifying glass effect with the sun.
