After about 24 hours without Citizens affiliates being able to vote before the fall of the computer system, the party has decided to postpone the voting process both for the election of committees to the V General Assembly in March and for the primary the head of the list of the elections of Galicia and Euskadi. The avalanche of protests of the affiliates for this serious incident has not ceased throughout this Saturday.
In a statement issued by the party in the late afternoon this decision is announced “in view of the serious damage caused by the company Scytl, hired by Citizens (Cs) to provide the electronic voting service”. The decision, it is explained, has been taken by the Guarantees Commission at the request of the Management Commission, “by unanimous agreement”. “This decision has been taken due to the impossibility of the company continuing and carrying out the telematic voting process for which Scytl had been hired, and therefore, the Management Commission has proposed, and the Guarantees Commission has decided, new dates to carry out both votes.
The telematic voting for the election of committees for the V General Assembly will be on February 29, 2020 from 00: 01h until 21: 00h, and the face-to-face vote, on March 1, 2020 from 10: 00h until 7:00 p.m.
As for the primary voting for the election of the head of the list for the regional elections in the Basque Country and Galicia, which also had to have been held this weekend, the telematic vote is moved to February 26 from 00: 01h until February 27, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.
For its part, Scytl, the company hired by the party to provide its electronic voting platform, has also apologized and assumed its error. In another statement, he says that “since the first hours of the process, an incident has been detected in the service that has caused the system to slow down to access the voting portal and, as a consequence, voters have had difficulties connecting to the system and issuing your vote. “
“This incident has been due to a human error of the Scytl team in the configuration of the service that allowed users to access the voting platform, which as a technology provider external to Citizens, Scytl assumes in full,” explains the provider. “In this sense – adds the company statement – Scytl deeply regrets the incidents caused during the day yesterday and today and apologizes to the affiliation and direction of the party for the error occurred, as well as for the damage caused to its image and any other damage caused. “
