Madrid, May 21 (EFE) .- The legendary vocalist of The Pretenders, Chrissie Hynde, has published an album of versions of Bob Dylan -which days later will be accompanied by a documentary about the recording process-, a “gift” to the musician who turns 80 this year.
The album “Standing in the Doorway: Chrissie Hynde sings Bob Dylan” has nine songs and has so far been released digitally, although in August it will be released on vinyl and CD.
The Bob Dylan covers were remotely recorded during confinement by Hynde and her bandmate at The Pretenders, James Walbourne, who would record an initial idea on his phone for the vocalist to later add her voice to.
“Whatever Bob does, he still manages to make you laugh because, more than anything, he’s a comedian. It is always fun and always has something to say. So I called James and said, ‘Let’s do some covers of Dylan’ and that’s what started all this, “says Chrissie, as reported by the BMG record company this Friday.
The second part of the gift, the documentary “Tomorrow is a Long Time”, produced by White Light Film Productions and directed by Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, analyzes the recording process of the Bob Dylan versions and exclusively presents the interpretation of these versions by Chrissie and James.
It will premiere on Sky Arts on May 24, coinciding with Bob Dylan’s 80th birthday, although it will later reach more television platforms.
