The number of evictions practiced in the second quarter of 2018 it stood at 17,152, which represents an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period of 2017, after four quarters of year-on-year reductions, according to the study, the "Effects of the economic crisis on judicial bodies" published by the Statistics Section of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).

The increase in launches is a consequence of the 6.1% increase who have experienced the derivatives of the Urban Leasing Law (LAU). Between April and June occurred 10,491 launches due to non-payment of rent, which in percentage terms represents 61.2% of the total releases of the quarter.

Conversely, Releases derived from executions Mortgages has been 5,672 (33.1% of the total), a figure that represents a decrease of 8.5%. The remaining 989 launches (representing 5.7% of the total) are derived from other causes.

By regions, Catalonia, with 4,170 evictions, 24.3% of the national total, was, by far, the autonomous community in which more launches were made in the second quarter of 2018, followed by Andalucía (2,718), Comunidad Valenciana (2,245) and Madrid (1.878).

According to the CGPJ, they have registered important increases in Murcia, in Extremadura, Catalonia and the Canary Islands, while, as in the previous quarter, Galicia recorded a year-on-year reduction of more than 50%, due to the strike of officials engaged in these tasks.

Attending only the launches resulting from procedures derived from the Urban Leasing Law, in the first place it appears Catalonia, with 2,589 processes (24.7% of the national total); followed by Madrid (1,467), Andalucía (1,419) and the Comunidad Valenciana (1,212). As for the derivatives of foreclosures, the classification leads Catalonia, with 1,181; followed by Andalusia, with 1,132; Valencian Community, with 959; and Murcia, with 528.

The report also includes the number of launches requested to the common services of notifications and embargoes, although with the warning that «This service does not exist in all judicial parties, so the data allows to measure the evolution, but does not indicate the absolute values ​​».

With these premises, the available data show that the number of launches requested to the common services in the second quarter of 2018 was 20,526, 7.2% more year-on-year. Of these, 12,398 ended with positive compliance, representing an interannual increase of 4%.

Lastly, the data relating to foreclosures presented show that these totaled a total of 7,216, which represents a decrease of 6.2% compared to the same quarter of 2017.

However, the CGPJ has observed a slowdown in the decrease of foreclosures, because in the seven previous quarters the reductions ranged between 26% and 46.5%. By Autonomous Communities, it was in Andalusia where a greater number of foreclosures were initiated (1,467, 20.3% of the national total), followed by Catalonia (1,311), Comunidad Valenciana (954), Murcia (631) and Madrid (627). ).
