Castillo del Romeral cleans its coastline – La Provincia

The residents of the fishing neighborhood of Castillo del Romeral, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, put their grain of sand this weekend to clean up the abandoned waste on their coastline and the bottoms of the beaches that bathe its coast. Within the framework of the educational, conservation and solidarity meeting ‘Playing Fair with the ocean and its biodiversity’, the residents cleaned a total of 150 kilos of plastic elements from the coast, four kilos of microplastics, 150 kilos of cardboard, 25 kilos of nets and other fishing gear, five kilos of glass, another 12 of organic garbage and in the port area, eight wheels of tourism and seven pots of different sizes. During this environmental meeting, a turtle recovered at the Cabildo Species Recovery Center was released, and attendees were able to enjoy a tour of Juncalillo del Sur to spot birds, planted native species and participated in a kayak activity on the beach . In the event, 100 kilos of food and 132 carafes of solidarity caps were also collected.
