Castilla y León will confine Burgos this Wednesday before the expansion of the coronavirus. This Monday, the Minister of Health, Verónica Casado, called the mayor of Burgos, Daniel de la Rosa, to inform him of the decision to implement these restriction measures in the capital. Tomorrow, Tuesday, the order will be published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (Bocyl) and on Wednesday the entry and exit control and other capacity restrictions will come into effect. This was confirmed by De la Rosa at a press conference this morning.
Burgos exceeds 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and meets the three Illa criteria for perimeter closure
This weekend, Burgos has reached the third requirement for the perimeter closure: it has a cumulative incidence of 559 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In addition, it registered a positivity of 29% in the last 14 days and ICU patients in Castilla y León occupy 64% of the pre-COVID critical beds.
Thus, the three requirements approved by the Interterritorial Health Council between the autonomies and the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, are met. The mayor of Burgos had already warned last week that if the situation did not improve over the weekend they would have to close the city.
The basic health areas with the highest incidence are Gamonal Antigua (785), Los Comuneros (764), Santa Clara (713) and Los Cubos (639), although San Agustín is also above the threshold of 500 cases per 100,000 ( 560), Cristóbal Acosta (560), García Lorca (537) and Las Huelgas (507 cases per 100,000 inhabitants). Aranda de Duero, also confined
The Junta de Castilla y León closes Aranda de Duero (Burgos) again after detecting community transmission, as just published by the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (Bocyl). The perimeter closure begins at 00:00 on October 20, 2020 and will remain effective for 14 calendar days, which may be extended if the evolution of the epidemiological situation so requires. Aranda was already confined between August 7 and 21 due to the high incidence rate.
“The municipality of Aranda de Duero presents an epidemiological situation that evidences the need to adopt preventive measures that affect the mobility and circulation of people as well as the development of various activities that, due to their characteristics, may favor the spread of the virus, to the effects of avoiding the possible uncontrolled spread of COVID-19 and therefore containing what already seems an inescapable community transmission of the pandemic. ”
Although Aranda de Duero does not enter this group of cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants, Health takes measures when it finds itself in epidemiological and sanitary circumstances “similar” to those included in this order. The cumulative incidence in that municipality is 790 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Aranda Norte and 482 cases per 100,000 in Aranda Sur. The positivity is 35%, since 673 PCR tests have been done in the last 14 days, of which 240 have been confirmed.
