"If Sánchez fails, he must give way," Casado said at a press conference in Congress after meeting at the Palacio de la Zarzuela with the King in the round of consultations opened by the monarch. As he added, if the King proposes a candidate and takes this step, "he has no more rabbits left in the hat" and is "on his last chance."
Casado has affirmed that the head of the acting Executive is "taking steps that go beyond the margin of constitutionality" and stressed that the PP has remained "alone" in the defense of the Magna Carta. In fact, he said he would like to have socialist leaders who "disagreed with that drift."
The president of the PP has denounced that Sánchez has not contacted him during this month, something that he has described as a "contempt" to the Popular Party. That said, he has reiterated that he will vote 'no' on his investiture but is willing to facilitate governance with state pacts.
