The leader of the PP, Pablo Casado, has warned this Tuesday that “Spain has no one at the helm” in the face of the pandemic because the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, is making a “resignation of functions” and is “parapet” after a competence conflict to leave the responsibility to the autonomies.
Sánchez mobilizes the military as trackers and offers the regional presidents the sole command through the state of alarm
The head of the main opposition party has assured that there are “hundreds” of victims a week, when the official data, supplied by the autonomous communities to the Ministry of Health, total 96 deaths in the last seven days.
In an appearance in Congress, after Sánchez announced that he will support communities that want to request a state of alarm for their territories, Casado has criticized that he “sneaks” in other administrations and has reproached his “lack of foresight and indolence.” reports Efe.
For this reason, he has warned that there is an “absolute absence of leadership” and has insisted that he will give his support to the legal modifications necessary to be able to adopt measures against outbreaks and against the “unpredictability and indolence” of the Government, which believes that he makes the same mistakes as in March with his “triumphant speech” on COVID-19.
Casado has insisted that the current legislation on public health “allows the application of the sole command” and a possible limitation of mobility “is perfectly covered by law”, although he has admitted that if it is not enough he would be in favor of reforming that rule, something which, in his opinion, can be done urgently in just 15 days. All this, with the aim of avoiding a new state of alarm. “There is a legal plan B”, he assured, with a formula that he has also used to claim a “health plan B” and an “educational plan B”.
Regarding the beginning of the school year, despite being an autonomous competence, he has insisted that the Government is “the last responsible” in this matter.
