Carriers’ professional aptitude cards have been extended

The Professional Aptitude Certificate (CAP) cards for carriers that expire from March 1 will be valid up to 120 days after the end of the coronavirus alarm state and the General Directorate of Transportation may extend them by resolution for a maximum of 30 days.

The Spanish Confederation of Transport of Goods (CETM) has informed this Thursday of the publication of the order by which drivers who have pending the renewal of the CAP can continue with their activity in this exceptional situation.

After the declaration of the state of alarm, the CAP classes and exams were canceled, leaving the carriers who were pending their renewal without the possibility of carrying it out.

The CAP is a certificate of professional aptitude that certifies that drivers have completed a series of courses and tests to obtain the initial qualification as professional drivers.

Its validity depends on its owner taking a continuous training course within the deadlines established by regulations to renew the CAP.

The CAP is regularly renewed through a 35-hour continuous training course in an approved center every five years and before it expires.
