Carlos Catalán, son of the founder of the AC Hoteles chain, dies at 44

This Tuesday, November 10, he has passed away Carlos Catalán, Vice President AC Hotels by Marriot, as reported through an official statement sent by the company.

«The AC Hotels by Marriot group regrets to announce the death of Mr. Carlos Catalán Heir, Vice President of the Group since 2000, at the age of 44 after a long illness. In these painful moments, we ask for the utmost respect for the family while we appreciate the expressions of affection and condolences received. Carlos’ exemplary dedication to the hotel industry in general, and to our company in particular, leaves us a legacy of great recognition, ”the statement reads.

Carlos Catalán was one of the six children of Antonio Catalán, founder of the AC Hoteles chain and current president of the group. The businessman was born in Tudela (Navarra) in 1976 and was the father of three children. The manager became vice president of the hotel chain in 2000.

The pilgrimage that the AC Hoteles cycling team makes each year to Santiago de Compostela was dedicated last September to Carlos Catalán and, among others, Antonio Catalán, his father, and Miguel Indurain, winner of five Tours de France, participated.
