Cantabria recommends self-confinement and limiting social activity and mobility due to the large upturn in cases

The Cantabria Ministry of Health, given the great upturn in cases experienced in the last hours in the autonomous community, urges the population to carry out home self-confinement, limit social activity as much as possible and reduce mobility, except in strictly necessary cases. It also recommends, to the extent possible, canceling or postponing any family or social event.

Health insists, once again, on the need to take extreme precautions and avoid closed spaces to contain the spread of the virus. If essential, all social interaction should take place in open, well-ventilated spaces. In addition, from the General Directorate of Public Health they recommend not going out after ten o’clock at night and avoiding bar consumption in hotel and restaurant establishments.

In addition, Health wants to launch a specific message for people over 65 years of age or with chronic diseases who live outside residential settings, the most vulnerable population group, so that, either themselves or their caregivers, they intensify protection and safety measures , always avoiding closed public spaces, group activities and meetings in closed places. The objective of these measures is to stop the incidence of the coronavirus, its community transmission and the spread of the disease.

Negative data

And all this in a day that accumulates, until 11:00 a.m., 113 new cases, which are added to the 100 diagnosed until 00:00 a.m. the previous day. In addition, in the data closed on Friday, two more deaths are counted, an 85-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman, both with chronic diseases, which bring to 241 the total number of deaths in the community since the beginning of the pandemic.

Regarding the rest of the data, there is a total of 8,665 accumulated positives (7,701 diagnosed by PCR and 964 by antibody detection test); 7,403 cured (85% of the total) and 1,021 active cases (34 of them hospitalized -8 in the ICU- and 987 in home quarantine).

The distribution of the 34 hospitalized is as follows: 23 at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital; 5 in Sierrallana; 5 in Laredo and 1 in the Tres Mares Hospital in Reinosa. Finally, the number of tests carried out to date amounts to 213,810, at a rate of 36,782 per 100,000 inhabitants.

It is significant that, after analyzing the places visited during the 5 days by the positive diagnosed in the community, an increase is observed in the cases that had been in bars (22.28% to 32.03%), in restaurants (4.82% to 8.54%) and meetings with non-partners (9.93% to 11.74%). These figures suggest that the transmission that occurred last week in the social sphere is spreading to the rest of the community.

Inspections in the hospitality industry

On the other hand, the General Directorate of Public Health proceeded on Friday to suspend the activity in a hotel and restaurant establishment due to flagrant non-compliance with food hygiene regulations and the preventive measures adopted against COVID-19.

So far, more than 1,300 inspections have been carried out in bars and restaurants to monitor compliance with safety and hygiene measures. Among the aspects analyzed to determine compliance with the regulations are the lack of the mandatory registration in the registry; the lack of equipment and sufficient and adequate space for the exercise of the activity.

In addition, it is checked whether the storage is carried out in inappropriate conditions; cleanliness, compliance with the maximum allowed capacity and the minimum interpersonal distances established, together with an exhaustive analysis of hygiene in the premises, which among others, constitute the basic parameters to determine possible non-compliance that, among others, motivate a suspension order operating in premises, to avoid risks in terms of food hygiene and prevention of risk of transmission of COVID-19.

Private parties, in the spotlight

The General Directorate of Public Health is also preparing the sanctioning file with “important fines” for all the participants in a private party in a garage, notified by the National Police at 3:50 am.

Alerted by the neighbors, the police force appears in the garage, where a party of 20 people with music, drinks and the absence of a mask takes place, for which a sanction is proposed for all of them and closure of the premises, once the owner has been identified , which will also be sanctioned.
