Canet Rock disassociates the festival from the increase in covid-19 infections

Barcelona, Jul 19 (EFE) .- Canet Rock has assured this Monday that “there is no reason to link the festival with any outbreak of covid”, in response to the published information that indicates the event, which took place on the 3rd of July in Canet de Mar (Barcelona), as a source of contagions.

In a statement, the organizers have assured that, “pending the epidemiological data that the Ministry of Health will make public, there is no reason to link the festival with any outbreak of covid-19.”

Canet Rock recalled that the event was carried out supported by a specific protocol that guaranteed the health security of this type of event.

“The will was to generate new spaces for safe social relations, compared to informal areas that do not have any type of measure and that are the main source of contagion,” he added.

The festival carried out more than 22,000 antigen tests in a single day and detected 152 asymptomatic positives, “which would have been a risk in any uncontrolled space” and which could not enter the Canet Rock venue.

The organizers have recognized that the company that was to provide the screening service “breached its contract” and “negligence” caused queues, but did not affect the reliability of the operation.

“All the people who accessed the site did so with a negative antigen test, as established by the protocols of the Ministry of Health and PROCICAT,” he insisted.

“For months, the festival has worked hand in hand with the health authorities to establish security protocols that were rigorously followed and is proud to have participated in a test that should serve to find new ways to carry out more safe cultural activities.”
