Canary Islands, where urban bus users increase the most with 10.9% more in July – La Provincia

Overall, the number of intercity transport travelers increased 2.3% in July compared to the same month of 2018, to 117.7 million travelers.

Special and discretionary transport grew 7.8% this month, to 30.4 million users. The number of special transport passengers rose 10% and exceeded 8.3 million users. Within this, the school increased by 13.6% and the workforce by 9.5%. On the other hand, discretionary transport grew by 7% to 22 million travelers.


In total, the number of travelers who used public transport in July was 394.8 million, 4.9% more than in the same month of 2018. The variation rate of the number of public transport passengers in July on June it was -8.7% compared to the -12.1% registered in 2018.

In contrast, the greatest increases in urban transport by bus were in the Canary Islands (+ 10.9%), Extremadura (+ 7.9%) and Comunidad de Madrid (+ 7.3%). On the other hand, the Basque Country (+ 2%), the Valencian Community (+ 2.4%) and Aragón (+ 3.8%) registered the smallest increases in bus transport.
