Galicia will require from Saturday the vaccination certificate or a negative test of the covid to enter the hotel and catering establishments of those municipalities with a high spread of the virus, a measure that will also be discussed tomorrow by the Canary Islands Government Council.
This measure that already works in other countries, such as Portugal or Greece, would be released in Spain for the first time in Galicia, since its president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, believes that there is a “legal basis” to be able to demand these documents, which can be either a negative diagnostic test of the last 72 hours or the certificate of vaccination – or of having passed the covid – to all those over 12 years of age.
However, the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, asked about the possibility of using the EU digital certificate for this purpose, stressed the European nature of this document and that its objective is to facilitate mobility between countries, guaranteeing that its user is vaccinated, has passed the disease or has a negative diagnostic test.
Darias stressed that legal regulation is necessary to allow Galicia’s use of that document and considered that it will be seen “in due course, whether it is appropriate or not.”
On Canary Islands, its Executive reviews every Thursday the alert level in the different islands and, given the increase in infections, it will study this measure in the Governing Council.
To make a decision, the government of Ángel Víctor Torres will have on the table the report of the Scientific Committee and the legal services, sources from the Canarian executive have explained to Efe.
Other countries in our environment are already requiring the vaccination certificate to access establishments. This is the case of France, which will ask its citizens to attend cultural events, go to a shopping center, travel by train or enter bars or restaurants. The measure is expected to be in force at the beginning of August and once it is voted in the National Assembly.
Portugal It already requires presenting a negative covid test or vaccination certificate to access the interior of restaurants in the 60 municipalities with the highest incidence during weekends.
On Greece, Since last week, the interiors of bars, restaurants, discos, cinemas and theaters have opened their doors with a capacity of 85%, but only for those vaccinated and with all customers seated, with significant financial penalties for those establishments that serve unimmunized clients.
