Canary Islands Film will participate from today in MIPCOM 2021, the world’s most important global television content market held in Cannes, with the aim of capturing new audiovisual shoots for the Archipelago. Every October, MIPCOM brings together the main heavyweights of the sector mainly related to content from the entertainment industry, with special emphasis on television in formats such as fiction, documentaries, animation and series.
It is a powerful market focused on sale, purchase, financing, distribution and co-production, with more than half a century of history, which gives an idea of its importance and consolidation in the international industry. In a statement, the umbrella label that promotes the advantages offered by the Islands as a filming destination, has indicated that within the framework of this professional meeting, the Canarian delegation will meet with more than 30 professionals and producers from around the world who have met interested in the Islands.
The Canarian presence in this market, which is coordinated by the Government and the Film Commissions, among other entities, will take place between today and Thursday with the assistance of several of the members of this joint brand and four producers from the islands who come with the support from Canary Islands Film. For its part, the mission, framed within an annual strategy to attend national and international markets and festivals, aims to attract investors and film shoots to the Archipelago and promote local talent and industry. Since the return of the festivals after the health crisis, promotional actions have been carried out in the Canary Islands as the setting for filming in Seriesmanía (Lille, France), ConectaFicción (Navarra), the San Sebastián International Festival and Iberseries (Madrid). Meanwhile, after MIPCOM 2021, participation in the Shooting Location Marketplace (Valladolid) is planned. However, during 2020 and early 2021, Canary Islands Film participated in the main industry events.
