Canary Islands adds 71 confirmed cases of monkeypox since the beginning of the alert

The islands register two new positives and six under study since last Friday
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands records
two new cases and three under study for possible diagnosis of monkeypox since Friday. Therefore, since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there have been 71 confirmed cases, of which 45 were detected in Gran Canaria, 25 in Tenerife and one in Fuerteventura.
All active cases are having
mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up by Primary Care.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows:
– 71 confirmed cases45 in Gran Canaria, 25 in Tenerife and one in Fuerteventura.
– Four probable casespending confirmation, three notified in Gran Canaria and another in Fuerteventura.
– Two suspected cases, pending confirmation, one registered in Gran Canaria and another in Lanzarote.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
