In his opinion there has been "much conflict" and "too much repeated information" generating uncertainty and a climate of permanent concern among the elderly who doubted if they could enjoy their trips this year.

"There was a time when it seemed that it was impossible for trips to leave, that there would be a lot of delay and they could not be celebrated. On Monday 23rd, Imserso signed the contract for the award of the three lots that make up the Social Tourism program. In this way, the tourism of the peninsular coast has been assigned to Mundiplan and Mundosenior has remained with the tourism of the insular coast and inland.

Carcedo said that the calendar will be fulfilled as planned and that the trips enjoyed by almost one million older people in Spain will continue to fulfill their dual function: that the elderly can travel at affordable pre-dates, and help keep them low during the off-season. Hotel facilities open and jobs are maintained.

"Thanks to these trips, many people are going to be unemployed," said the minister, assuring that around 90,000 jobs are generated with these trips in an economic activity that moves about 1,100 million euros.

The price of the packages varies depending on the chosen destination and the time of the trip, which varies between four and 15 days. 65% of pensioners participating in the Imserso travel program have a pension of less than 1,050 euros per month.

As a novelty, this year the program reserves 1% of the 50% subsidized places to people who have economic resources equal to or less than non-contributory retirement or disability pensions of the Social Security system.

In total, the Imserso Social Tourism Program for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons amounts to 1.14 million euros, of which 20.39% is from the Imserso contribution and 79.61% of The beneficiaries.
