‘Canarias Cinema’ projects 10 feature films and 18 shorts at the Film Festival

Canarias Cinema, the section dedicated to audiovisual works by Canarian authorship or production under the umbrella of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival, selects a total of 28 titles in competition: ten feature films and 18 shorts that can be seen from 9 to April 12, which forces the Canarian competition to be extended one more day.

After having evaluated 91 works, the Selection Committee has reconfigured the program by incorporating six new feature lengths to the section that already had the latest works by Miguel Mejías, Alexis Delgado Búrdalo, Théo Court, awarded as best director at Horizontes de Venecia 2019 thanks to his production Blanco en blanco or by the couple of directors Miguel G. Morales and Silvia Navarro, winners of the Grand Prize of the Lisbon Indie Festival for the presentation of the work De los nombre de las cabras. Regulars such as Alba González de Molina, David Baute or Dácil Marique de Lara are also incorporated, along with voices such as José Víctor Fuente, Tommy Llorens or Irene Gutiérrez, the latter will arrive with his feature Between Dog and Wolf after having shown it at the Festival de Berlin 2020.


With regard to short films, the edition that had already confirmed the selection of works by Elio Quiroga, Octavio Guerra, Nayra Sanz Fuentes, David Sainz, Fernando Alcántara, David Delgado Sanginés or Samuel M. Delgado and Helena Girón, and values such as Rafael Montezuma, Claudia Torres, Pablo Vilas and Adriana Thomasa Carballo, the tandem formed by the illustrator Omar Al Abdul Razzak and the director Shira Ukrainitz or the specialist in direction of 2D animation and stop motion projects Enrique Diego, also grows and adds the new productions by regulars such as Rafael Navarro Miñón, Cayetana H. Cuyás, Lamberto Guerra or Jonay García, the latter out of competition, as well as the renowned Octavio Guerra and Víctor Moreno.
