The eight Canarian airportshave received 3,752,854 passengers in the first month of 2019, lor that has meant an increase of 1.6 percent compared to January 2018, according to data published on Tuesday by Aena.
Thus, of the total commercial passengers (3,726,618),1.26 million passengers correspond to domestic traffic, which experienced an increase of 8.2 percent,while 2.45 million were international visitors, which registered a drop of 0.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
By airports,The one with the highest traffic was Gran Canaria, with 1.18 million passengers,and remains the same as in the same period last year, whileTenerife South registers just over one million passengers, experiencing a growth of 5.3 percent,occupying the third and fourth place in the Aena network.
After them the airport of Lanzarote is located with 569.287 (+ 1.9%); Fuerteventura with 442,911 (-6.9%); Tenerife North with 400,382 (+ 6.6%); La Palma with 117,624 (+ 3.2%); El Hierro with 18,375 (+ 7.2%); and La Gomera, with the highest percentage increase, 47.5 percent more and 4,754 passengers.
About the number of operations,Canarian airports registered 36,018, which implied a growth of 4.9 percent.Thus of the total, 16,207 were international (+ 2.7%) and 18,413 national (+ 6.2%).
By last,the traffic of merchandise was of more than 3.157 tons transported, 1.3 percent more than in January 2018.
