Calviño elects Rodrigo Buenaventura as president of the CNMV to replace Albella

The third vice president of the Government and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, will propose the appointment of Rodrigo Buenaventura as president of the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) and Montserrat Martínez Parera as vice president of the organization, reported Europa Press from government sources.

Rodrigo Buenaventura is the current general director of markets of the CNMV, while Montserrat Martínez is the director of the Office of the President of CaixaBank and the director of public affairs of the entity.

The appointments of Rodrigo Buenaventura as the successor of Sebastián Albella and that of Montserrat Martínez as successor of Ana Martínez Pina will be proposed by Calviño to the Council of Ministers to be held next Tuesday.

Candidates must appear before the economic affairs commission of the Congress of Deputies, to subsequently approve their appointments by royal decree. Until then, Albella and Martínez Pina will continue in office, thanks to the modification of the regulations approved this week by the Council of Ministers. Buenaventura and Martínez will assume a term of four years, being able to renew it once.
