Brussels warns Spain of the risk of not complying with the required adjustment

The European Commission (EC) today sent a formal letter to Spain in which it warns that there may be a risk that it deviates from the structural adjustment required by Brussels in 2019 and asks for more information on the measures included in the draft budgets that he sent him on Monday.

In his letter, the EU executive notes that the draft provides for a nominal increase in net spending of 1.7%, "which exceeds the maximum recommended increase of 0.6%," and that the structural adjustment of 0.4% of the GDP that it foresees stays below the 0.65% recommended by the institutions.

He adds that "based on the limited information available, we can not exclude a risk of any deviation from the effort required."
